Fly to Los Angeles where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Today, our journey begins through Palm Springs, the winter playground for Hollywood royalty, with its lively downtown and immaculately kept golf courses at the base of the rugged San Jacinto Mountains. A sea of wind turbines mark the entrance to this desert oasis.
Afterwards, we will pass through Indio, home to the International Date Festival in the Coachella Valley.
We travel through the Sonoran Desert, the richest, most biologically diverse desert ecosystem in the Americas.
Continue to Sedona, a city situated in a unique geological area and encircled by distinctive red-rock monoliths, with names such as Cathedral and Coffee Pot.
We then drive through the breathtaking Oak Creek Canyon before arriving at Grand Canyon National Park. Majestic Grand Canyon National Park is one of the seven great natural wonders of the world. Stop at the rim to fully experience the mile-deep colourful canyon’s plunging gorges, and rising spires formed by the mighty Colorado River.
As we journey further today, we will enter the Navajo Indian Reservation, passing the trading post of Cameron.
We continue through the Painted Desert and the region of Monument Valley, an area that embodies some of the most iconic images of the American West.
In the late afternoon, enter the town of Page, situated on a mesa above the Colorado River, and we welcome you to enjoy an evening at leisure.
We visit the mighty Glen Canyon Dam, the second highest concrete-arch dam in America. From here, you will enjoy views of stunning Lake Powell, where crystal-blue water laps against towering red-rock canyon walls.
We enter Utah, known for the Mormon community, and pass through the town of Kanab, before visiting incredible Bryce Canyon, where a tour through a multi-coloured world of sandstone spires and pinnacles will dazzle the eye.
This evening, weather permitting, be sure to gaze upon the spectacular night sky filled with sparkling stars and brilliant constellations.
Today we travel to Zion National Park and see the spectacular rock formations carved by wind, time and the Virgin River.
This afternoon, experience the contrast of Las Vegas, the dazzling 'entertainment capital of the world,' where round-the-clock shopping, nightly shows, and of course, gambling, are readily available.
Today is at leisure for you to enjoy the many attractions that Las Vegas has to offer. In addition to world-class shopping, bustling casinos, and Broadway-calibre shows, you may simply stroll the famous strip to take in its fantastic sights, or 'shop ‘til you drop' at designer outlets.
The tour stops at the iconic Las Vegas welcome sign, where you may wish to capture a photo memory!
Having enjoyed glamorous Las Vegas, it's time for a sharp contrast this afternoon as we enter the quiet and extreme environment of Death Valley.
Stop at Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Ranch/Visitor Centre,before continuing across the valley and ascending the Sierra Nevada Mountains, to the alpine resort town of Mammoth Lakes*. The area gained prominence as a gold mining town in the 19th century, and today is renowned for the superior skiing terrain and staggeringly beautiful mountain vistas.
*Winter Routing: The Tioga Pass may be closed due to weather or road conditions, in which case you will overnight in Fresno or Visalia, and a visit to Mammoth Lakes will not be possible (winter routing applies to all departures between October and May under normal snow conditions).Overnight is in nearby Modesto.

A day at leisure! Your ATI Tour Director is on hand to assist with making your plans for the day. Perhaps take a cable car ride to Fisherman’s Wharf, where you can enjoy a 'taste of San Francisco' with local seafood, famous sourdough breads or decadent Ghiradelli’s Chocolate on offer. Be sure to gaze across the bay to Alcatraz island where 'America’s most wanted' such as Al Capone and 'Machine Gun' Kelly were incarcerated. Or, why not visit Union Square for a shopping stop at Macy’s department store?
We depart San Francisco this morning for the drive to the Monterey Peninsula, known for its enclave of magnificent homes and lovely beaches. In Monterey, visit Fisherman’s Wharf and famous Cannery Row.
Then tour charming Carmel-by-the-Sea, noted for its quaint houses, upscale art galleries and unique stores.
In the afternoon, continue to drive south through Paso Robles to one of the quaint central coast towns for an overnight stay.
Journey south through the Santa Ynez Valley and into Santa Barbara, where palm-lined walkways border white sandy beaches.
Upon arrival in Los Angeles, we will stop in Santa Monica, home to the 'finish line” of historic Route 66, where you may enjoy an optional lunch on the pier or a beach bike ride.
Your afternoon tour of 'the city of angels' continues with signs of Beverly Hills and Hollywood, before reaching your hotel late afternoon/early evening.
Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight to the UK.

This tour requires customers to have a certain degree of fitness as it is a very full itinerary. Wheelchairs must be prior approved by ATI. This is due to luggage space being at a premium on the coach. Customers are subject to 1 piece of hold luggage each, additional pieces are subject to approval by ATI and may be charged at a supplement. Passengers with medical conditions which impair their travels and may require assistance must make these conditions known at the time of booking. Tour Directors are not permitted to personally intervene or assist in medical emergencies, or assist passengers with prior medical conditions. Passengers with physical challenges must always travel with a companion who can assist them. All coaches are equipped with a lavatory. As facilities for properly serving the lavatory are extremely limited outside major metropolitan areas, the on-board lavatory is principally intended for emergency use. Of course, frequent stops are made throughout the day for the customers comfort. You may find that your tour coach does not have seat belts as American Law doesn't require them.
Please note, due to local laws at least one person in each room booked must be aged 21 years or over. Persons under 21 years of age cannot enter casinos (including those in hotels) alone in the USA and must be accompanied at all times by an adult aged 21 or over.
IMPORTANT VISA INFORMATION
Travel Authorisation via the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) is required prior to travelling to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program, for which an additional charge of approximately $14 per person is made. Log onto the ESTA Web site at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov and complete an online application in English. The web-based system will prompt you to answer basic biographical and eligibility questions typically requested on a paper I-94W form. Applications may be submitted at any time prior to travel, however, DHS recommends that applications be submitted no less than 72 hours prior to travel.
It is your responsibility to ensure you hold the correct passport and visa (if required) to enter the United States of America. If you are in any doubt please contact the appropriate embassy.
