Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family, Chatsworth is an iconic stately home. It contains works of art that span 4000 years, from Ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, to masterpieces by famous artists and modern works. There are over 25 rooms to explore from the magnificent Painted Hall, regal State Rooms and beautiful Sculpture Gallery, along with over 100 acres of grounds and garden.

We venture into the Peak District to a charming village called Eyam (pronounced 'Eem'). It is known as the 'Plague Village' as it has a unique story associated with the Black Death in 1665, which you can learn about at the museum in the town. Its dark history aside, it is a very pretty village with a craft centre, sculpture garden and market hall.

We also call at Castleton, a picturesque village in the White Peak at the head of the Hope Valley. Founded in 1086 after the building of Peveril Castle, and built by the son of William the Conqueror, Castleton is steeped in history and is the quintessential classic English hamlet.
