Local departure by coach or Home Connect service to The Hague for four nights.

We visit 'the largest village in Europe' today on our included excursion to The Hague. Despite its imposing and impressive skyline, The Hague is one of Holland’s greenest cities on account of the many leafy lanes and vast parks. You will have time at leisure here, to explore all the ‘city’ has to offer. During the month of December, the city plays host to its Royal Christmas Fair. The fair takes place in the heart of the city on the Lange Voorhout, surrounded by the Binnenhof, the Noordeinde Palace and festive shopping streets such as Denneweg, and the Plaats and Plein squares. Twinkling lights and Christmas carols will get you in the festive mood, as you browse the numerous stalls to find gift ideas, whilst enjoying a hot chocolate or Glühwein.

Optional excursion to the charming Dutch town of Delft, famous for its porcelain. Delft is best discovered on foot, walking along its tree-lined canals with centuries old houses and little bridges. Discover the ‘Oude Kerk’ with its leaning tower, housing Holland’s loudest sounding bell, or see the town from a different perspective on a canal cruise.

This morning we enjoy some free time in Voorburg before we visit Amsterdam this afternoon and enjoy the cosmopolitan capital city. Amsterdam is Holland’s most vibrant city boasting 165 canals, 1281 bridges, 42 museums and a magical atmosphere. The heart of the old city fans out in a spider’s web of 17th century canals and all of the city’s greatest sights are within walking distance. Stroll along the Herengracht (Gentleman’s Canal) and admire the 17th century merchant houses or visit the floating flower market, which is always ablaze with colour regardless of the season. Explore the numerous boutiques and antique shops or, for a little spiritual revival, visit the Begijnhof, dating from 1346, which forms a green oasis in the heart of the city. From hustle and bustle to dreamy spaces, Amsterdam has it all. From the end of November until mid-January, Amsterdam celebrates the Light Festival. Light artworks and installations from both international and local artists, designers and architects light up the canals. The light art installations will be illuminated daily from 5pm until around 10pm within the Herengracht Canal, Oosterdok, and other canalside areas and we will stay into the night to give you chance to see them.
