On this spectacular coach holiday, we have brought together the emotion of the Oberammergau Passion Play, with the stunning scenery and amazing architecture of Bavaria’s fairy tale castles. We begin with a visit to the village of Hohenschwangau, where we see the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle offers dramatic views over the countryside and the nearby castle of Hohenschwangau. Spend time in the walled town of Fussen, where you can enjoy time relaxing in one of the many cafes. Experience Innsbruck, ‘capital’ of the Austrian Tyrol – the city is set with a backdrop of soaring alpine mountains and is home to amazing regal architecture. Finally, we witness the spectacular and emotional Oberammergau Passion Play. Held every ten years in the German village, the play tells the story of the Passion of Christ. It is a magically moving experience, one you do not want to miss.

A day to discover fairy tale castles on our included excursion. Firstly we visit the village of Hohenschwangau and King Ludwig’s famous castle Neuschwanstein. Built in the 19th century, this fairy tale castle is dramatically perched on a hilltop with panoramic views over the countryside and the Royal castle of Hohenschwangau. (Please note: at Neuschwanstein there is a degree of walking involved as well as a considerable number of steps to climb).
In the afternoon, we visit the delightful walled town of Füssen, where you can spend time exploring the maze of narrow lanes or simply relax in a terrace café in the main square.

Today’s included excursion takes us east to Innsbruck, ‘capital’ of the Tyrol. Set with a backdrop of soaring Alpine mountains and fine regal buildings, it is a major winter sports city, having hosted the winter Olympics.
We see the internationally renowned ski jump, Berg Isel, where you can marvel at the bravery and courage of the jumpers – it’s even more frightening than it appears on TV! The Golden Roof is testimony to the time in the 15th century when Innsbruck was at the centre of European culture and politics and Emperor Maximilian I based his Imperial Court here. Today you can enjoy its relaxing squares and vibrant shopping streets.
