From the magnificent city of San Francisco, famous for the Golden Gate Bridge and the world’s last manually operated Cable Car system, embark on a journey throughout some of America’s most beautiful, fascinating and popular National Parks. From the stunning Lake Tahoe, to Yellowstone, Arches National Park, Bryce canyon and, of course, the world-famous Grand Canyon, you will get a true taste of what natural wonders the United States has to offer. Your escorted tour will also include visits to some of the world’s most famous cities, including glitzy Las Vegas and the bright lights of the dazzling Strip, as well as the glamorous city of Los Angeles, visiting the opulent districts such as Hollywood and Beverly Hills. You will also take a journey along the iconic Route 66, visit Salt Lake City and the Black Rock Desert, this escorted tour of western America is certainly living the American Dream.

Fly into San Francisco International Airport and to your hotel for a two-night stay.
Today we will spend time in ‘The City by the Bay’, where we will take a guided city tour that visiting Union Square, the Civic Centre and Fisherman's Wharf. Standing on a hilltop, watching the fog swirl in through the Golden Gate, it is easy to understand why many consider San Francisco the most beautiful city in America. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure, perhaps take a cable car ride to Fisherman's Wharf where you may enjoy a "Taste of San Francisco": local seafood, famous sourdough breads or decadent Ghiradelli's Chocolate. Or, take a stroll by Sea Lions' Marina to watch them frolic and play. Be sure to gaze across the bay to Alcatraz Island where "America's Most Wanted" such as Al Capone and "Machine Gun" Kelly were incarcerated.
This morning, we depart for Sacramento, capital of the "Golden State." A stop will be made in the old town, once a bustling centre of the Gold Rush and terminus of the Pony Express. We will then continue on to gorgeous Lake Tahoe, nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It’s said the sun shines for 75% of the year at Lake Tahoe and with its waters being 99.994% pure, is actually one of the purest large lakes in the world! In the afternoon you will visit Virginia City, a 19th century mining metropolis where the Old West comes to life. A short drive takes you on to Reno and your hotel where we will stay overnight, you may even be tempted to try your luck in the casino.
Journey through the Black Rock Desert and across the plains of northern Nevada. Follow the Humboldt River along the route that was once used by early pioneers on the Oregon and California Trails. Visit Elko, the former rough and tumble town that once sat at the end of the tracks laid from the west by the Central Pacific Railroad. Cross the state line at Jackpot and enter Twin Falls, located within Idaho's Magic Valley region where we will stay overnight.
Leaving Twin Falls, we will cross the Snake River, also known as "The River of No Return." Then visit Craters of the Moon National Monument. This eerie desert landscape so closely resembles lunar conditions that the training for the first men on the moon actually took place here. Later this afternoon you arrive at Yellowstone National Park where we will enjoy a two-night stay. Yellowstone was established in 1872 by Ulysses S. Grant as the nation's first National Park.
Enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour of this immense geothermal wonderland. Highlights of your tour will include Yellowstone Lake, Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs and Yellowstone Canyon's majestic falls (seasonal). Yellowstone is home to over 60% of the world’s geysers, erupting regularly offering a volcanic spectacle, wowing visitors for millions of people each year. With one of the largest concentrations of wild animals in America, with wolves, bison and grizzly and black bears, to name a few, making Yellowstone their home.
This morning's journey is through the rugged, snow-capped mountains which welcome you to Grand Teton National Park. Visit the Snake River Outlook and try your eye at capturing the stunning landscape made famous by Ansel Adam's iconic shot. This prairie land is home to wild buffalo (Tatonka!), moose and elk. Continue to Jackson Hole, the sophisticated "Crown Jewel" of the Rocky Mountains. Travel through southern Idaho to Salt Lake City in the Mormon State of Utah, where we will stay overnight. See the State Capitol building and visit famed Temple Square and the Tabernacle before arriving at the hotel for the evening. Why not treat yourself to a spot of dinner at the Roof Restaurant on our optional Salt Lake City Dinner? This optional delight has the perfect setting, with panoramic views of Temple Square.
Spend the morning exploring Salt Lake City. Then travel to Moab, where the landscape is distinguished by thousand-foot-deep canyons as well as snow-capped peaks. Moab is home to two of The Mighty 5® National Parks, Arches National Park and Canyonlands. We will stay in Moab for two nights.
Journey today to two of America's most spectacular National Parks. Your first stop, Arches National Park, home to over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the awe-inspiring Delicate Arch. Then it's on to Canyonlands National Park, where you will explore the colour drenched landscape of sandstone eroded into hundreds of canyons, mesas and buttes by the forces of time and the Colorado River. This evening enjoy an optional Jet Boat Float trip on the mighty Colorado River.
Visit Capitol Reef National Park, a destination of extraordinary natural beauty, established in 1937 to protect a unique geological feature. Continue to spectacular Bryce Canyon for an overnight stay. Here, a tour through a multi-coloured world of sandstone spires and pinnacles, "hoodoos", will dazzle the eye. This evening, weather permitting, be sure to gaze upon the spectacular night sky filled with sparkling stars and brilliant constellations and the aroma of pinewood campfires.
Today, we travel to stunning Lake Powell, where crystal blue water laps against towering red rock canyon walls. After crossing the Colorado, we enter the Navajo Indian Reservation and drive through the Painted Desert via Cameron Trading Post. Arriving at the Grand Canyon, one of the 7 great natural wonders of the world, we will make a stop at the rim to fully experience this mile-deep colourful canyon's plunging gorges and rising spires formed by the mighty Colorado River. We then travel on to Flagstaff for an overnight stay.
Descend the high Coconino Plateau into the Mojave Desert. Along the way, pass through Seligman, a town built along the famed Historic Route 66, that looks as if it were frozen in time 60 years ago. We will then travel onward to Las Vegas, the dazzling ‘Entertainment Capital of the World' for a two-night stay.
Today is a day at leisure, giving you time to enjoy all that fabulous Las Vegas has to offer, and here, seeing really is believing in this 24-hour city! In addition to impressive shopping, bustling casinos, and Broadway-calibre shows, you could take a stroll along the famous Strip or enjoy a spot of fine dining in some of the world's most famous restaurants. Or, you could join us for an optional trip to Death Valley, one of the hottest, driest, and lowest places on the surface of the Earth.
We start today with a stop at the iconic ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign, where you may wish to capture your photo memory. We will then travel to Los Angeles via the Mojave Desert. Clusters of unique Joshua trees dot the mountainous landscape. Upon arrival in Los Angeles you will enjoy a tour including Hollywood, Sunset Strip and parts of Beverly Hills, before reaching your hotel for an overnight stay.
Transfer to the airport for your overnight return flight to the UK.

You will spend 2-nights at the Hotel Carlton, San Francisco,
moving on to Harrah’s Reno, Reno for a one night stay. In Twin Falls, you will
stay for one night at the Shilo Inn Twin Falls before moving on to the Gray
Wolf Inn, Yellowstone for 2-nights. In Salt Lake City, you will spend one night
at the Little America Hotel, then 2-nights at the Moab Valley Inn, Moab. In
Bryce Canyon, you will spend one night at Bryce View Lodge before moving on for one night at the Days Hotel Flagstaff. In Las Vegas, you will stay for 2-nights
at the Luxor Las Vegas before completing your tour at the Crowne Plaza Los
Angeles Harbor.
All hotels are of European minimum 3-star standard and have
a restaurant or bar on site or nearby.
