Included excursion to the second largest city in the Veneto region, Verona. This beautiful city is situated alongside the River Adige and is the setting for William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Verona was a Roman city, and many ruins have been preserved, notably the Arena. Most of the historical sights to see today date from the past 800 years, and the city’s military importance has also left city fortifications and an excellent castle.
To introduce you to the array of spectacular sights, why not join our optional guided walking tour? The many charms of the city will be brought to life as you walk through its streets accompanied by a local guide. Admire the 1st century Arena (entrance included on the walking tour), which dominates the main square and is home to the prestigious Verona Opera Festival. Our informative guide will reveal many fascinating stories of the city’s palaces, churches and monuments. You will have time at leisure to browse amongst the shops or take a coffee break in one of the many cafés in Piazza Bra overlooking the Arena.

We start at Riva del Garda, where you can enjoy a stroll around the old town and shops, or relax in one of the bars dotted along the harbour. Our tour then takes us along the eastern side of the lake, where we visit the town of Lazise. The name Lazise comes from the Latin word ‘Lacus’, which means ‘Village on the Lake’. The town is home to many interesting churches, including the Romanesque Church of San Niccolo which dates back to the 12th century.
