We travel across the magnificent Grossglockner route, later passing Villach. We cross the border into Slovenia witnessing some unbelievable scenery en-route. We reach the popular resort of Kranjska Gora, where we stay for four nights.

Join our included excursion to Lake Bled. Set in the Slovenian Alps, the picture-postcard resort of Bled lies on the bank of this glistening blue lake. During the day, you may wish to take a ‘pletna’ (similar to a gondola) to the island in the centre of the lake and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Included excursion to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Ljubljana boasts a rich history, characterised by its architecture from the Baroque period. Narrow cobbled streets lie squeezed between the castle slopes and the River Ljubljanica. Why not sip a morning coffee by the riverbank, where your view will encompass the old city centre overlooked by the mighty castle.

Optional excursion to nearby Lake Bohinj, the largest lake in Slovenia, encircled by the highest mountain range in Slovenia, the Julian Alps. We later return to Kranjska Gora, allowing free time to explore the resort, famous for its winter sports and traditional friendly atmosphere.

We leave Kranjska Gora and head to the famous Postojna Caves. These are some of the largest caves in the world. The underground grottos were created through the natural work of the River Pivka. Its stalactites and stalagmites make it one of the most beautiful. An electric train will take you into the caves and a guide will walk you through the most interesting sights in the caves. We later cross the border into Croatia to reach our hotel in Umag for five nights.

Optional tour to the colourful hilltop town of Motovun, famous for the local truffles. Located in the green heart of the Istrian peninsula, you will have great views of the surrounding hills here. Take a stroll and see the charming, cobbled streets, historic town square and medieval walls.

Why not join our optional excursion to Pula, with its 3,000 years of history and heritage. Take a stroll through the town and you will come across numerous monuments of Roman architecture including the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi. You can also see Hercules' Gate and Twin Gates, the Temple of Augustus and of course, the magnificent Amphitheatre. This arena was built in the 1st century AD, during the rule of Emperor Vespasian and ranks as the sixth largest Roman amphitheatre existing today.

Included excursion of the Istrian Peninsula. We head first to the ancient town of Rovinj, renowned for its medieval architecture, remains of fortifications, a labyrinth of streets, stairways and picturesque squares. Located on the west coast, the lovely fishing port of Rovinj is a must-see on any Istrian tour. The towering steeple of the church dominates the skyline, which is reached by quaint alleyways. There are several cobbled beaches nearby and looking out to sea, there is an archipelago of islands in view. We also visit Porec, whose richness is measured by its historical heritage, which has been deeply rooted in this area for thousands of years. The old city of Porec is a monument of culture and has maintained the structure of the old Roman castrum.

You will stay for four nights at the Hotel Ramada or similar in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. You will then stay for five nights in Umag at the Hotel/Residence Garden Istria or the Hotel Siparo or similar.
Overnight stays in Germany will be in minimum 3-star hotels. Overnight stays in northern France will be in city-style hotels.
