Today, we are taken to Norwich station where we join the Bittern Line, named after the iconic wading bird, for a journey to Sheringham. Originating from an old fishing village, Sheringham boasts cliffs, golden sands, and brisk sea air, making it a beloved spot for many. With its winding promenade that flits between low cliffs, Sheringham offers an array of delightful shops, eateries, pubs, and quaint tea rooms. After soaking up its charm, we journey onward by coach to the majestic Holkham Hall.
Nestled within 25,000 acres of rolling parkland, Holkham Hall is an 18th-century Palladian style house, based on designs by William Kent and built by Thomas Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester. The current Earl and his family take great pride in opening their doors and sharing the treasures within. The Marble Hall, with its magnificent 50ft dome ceiling and elegant walls of English alabaster, is sure to impress, while the state dining rooms are decorated with opulent porcelain. Remaining largely unchanged since the late 18th century, there is plenty to take in at Holkham Hall. December is an enchanting time to visit, and with a welcoming glass of fizz and mince pie, you’re set to explore the remarkable state rooms as they’re adorned with festive decorations.
We return back to the hotel by coach and enjoy dinner tonight.

This morning, we travel by coach to Oxburgh Hall, an architectural masterpiece that was built in 1482. Constructed by the Catholic Bedingfeld family, the hall boasts a rich history and has undergone many changes due to the issues faced by the family. The 6th Baronet began work in the early 19th century, decorating and furnishing the hall in the antiquarian style you see today. Surrounded by an impressive expanse of nearly 175 acres, there is plenty of time to take in the beautiful gardens, serene streams, and wooded pathways. During the festive season, Oxburgh Hall will be adorned with festive decorations, making it a delight to explore.
This wonderful journey takes in some of the most unspoilt countryside, crossing 17 bridges to reach Wroxham, known as the ‘capital of the Norfolk Broads'. On arrival, we re-join our coach and head back to the hotel for dinner this evening. Enjoy views of idyllic countryside as we cross 17 bridges to reach Wroxham – the ‘capital of the Norfolk Broads'. Once in Wroxham, we will re-join our coach and head back to the hotel for dinner.
