This morning, our included excursion is on the Elblag Canal, a globally unique engineering structure. The canal is a feat of master hydro-engineering which is visible throughout the journey. However, the canal also connects to the lakes, with crystal-clean water surrounded by nature. The shores are covered with beautiful, virgin vegetation, and you can see lots of birds and forest animals everywhere. It's a real paradise for wildlife lovers!
After a brief stop for lunch, we continue to Malbork Castle, the most complete and elaborate example of a Gothic brick-built castle complex in the characteristic and unique style. An UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, the castle was founded in 1274 by the Teutonic Knights who used it as their headquarters to help defeat Polish enemies and rule their own northern Baltic territories. A public campaign led to restoration efforts that began in 1816 and continued until World War II. Discover all this history and more on a guided tour of the castle before returning to hotel.

This morning, you can choose to join us for an optional guided tour of Gdańsk to discover this famous port city, with its long market street that runs through the old town. This street is lined with colourful historic houses and a wide cobblestone pedestrianised promenade, where merchants, artists and performers fill the streets. The city was severely destroyed during WWII and had to be rebuilt. The reconstruction was made to look almost identical to what it looked like prior to the war, keeping the city’s architectural charm.
In the afternoon, we depart Gdańsk for the capital, Warsaw. En-route, we make a stop in Toruń, a medieval, UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest cities in the country. Home to one of the most famous astronomers in the world, Nicolaus Copernicus, the city is also renowned for its gingerbread. Learn all this and more on a guided tour which will take us on the rise and decline of this city before we continue to Warsaw for two nights.

This morning, we enjoy a full day to discover the capital of Poland, Warsaw. Although the beginnings of Warsaw go as far back as the 12th and 13th century, the city was forced to completely rebuild after its near-total destruction during WW2. The symbol of the capital’s rebirth was an unprecedented post-war re-creation of the Old Town, which in 1980 was put on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. To introduce you to the sights, join our included guided sightseeing tour. You will see the Royal Route, with its aristocratic residences, statues and historic churches before visiting the Old Town, the Castle Square the Barbican, and such historical sites as the Ghetto Memorial, the Chopin Monument and the Belvedere Palace. Our local guide will provide an informative commentary and reveal many of the stories behind the buildings and personalities that have shaped the often-tragic history of this fascinating city as well as an included visit to the Museum of Warsaw.
The remainder of the day is at leisure in this remarkable city. Explore the streets of the Old Town with atmospheric alleys, squares and cosy cafés.
Today, we depart Warsaw and travel to Czestochowa. The city is known for the famous Pauline monastery of Jasna Góra, which is the home of the Black Madonna painting, a shrine to the Virgin Mary. Every year, millions of pilgrims from all over the world come to Czestochowa to see it. Here, we enjoy an included guided visit to learn about this famous monastery before we continue onto Kraków, our base for 2 nights.

This morning, we enjoy an included guided tour of Kraków to introduce you to the sights of the Old Town, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Market Square is one of the largest medieval squares in Europe and deserving of its place among the most beautiful in the world. The square is the focal point of the city and is divided by the imposing Gothic-style Cloth Hall. After the sightseeing tour, there will be time at leisure to explore at your own pace. Perhaps walk up Wawel Hill to the Royal Cathedral, one of Poland’s greatest buildings, and the burial place of over 40 Polish Kings.
In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to explore Kraków at leisure or join our optional excursion to the town of Wieliczka and the oldest salt mine in Europe. The mines are an impressive underground world of salt lakes and galleries. They are a masterpiece of generations of miners who have created a subterraneous world of chambers and lakes, where galleries, halls, chapels and numerous sculptures have been carved in the salt rock.
The journey starts at the Danilowicz Shaft where we meet our guide, and then descend via some 380 steps to 64 metres below ground. Our guide takes us on a fascinating journey through the magnificent chambers, revealing the history and the secrets of the mine. At the end of our visit, we return to the surface by the miners lift.

This morning, we depart Kraków and head south to the wonderful resort of Zakopane, set in the iconic Tatras Mountains. Three centuries ago, Zakopane was a tiny village in an impenetrable forest, giving forth to the name Zakopane, which translates as ‘buried’. It was coined by the geologists and nature lovers who founded this city and considered it a buried treasure.
Since the turn of the last century, the city has caught the imagination of Poles and tourists alike, who are enchanted by the beauty of the mountains and inspired by the distinctive highland culture. Sightseeing in Zakopane begins on the most famous street; Krupowki. Here, a unique atmosphere where you can buy souvenirs and local specialties is accompanied by live highlander music. The restaurants and inns along here also specialise in traditional cuisine, offering delicious regional dishes. Oscypek, dumplings with bryndza, kwaśnica or mountain trout are a must try. However, it is the unique climate which has attracted countless visitors for centuries, with many believing the healing power of the mountain air.
Many have taken inspiration from the surrounding area and the blend of local mountain-style architecture of Zakopane is a result of this, with the traditional wooden style seen by all over the city around all the streets and nooks of the city. At market square, turn off of Krupówki onto Kościeliska Street to see cottages of the oldest highlander families, which are now important monuments. Visit the oldest inn in Zakopane, "U wnuka" (the Grandson's), opened 170 years ago, and then, to Villa Koliba, the first house kept in the Zakopane style.
