Admire the 17th-century merchant houses or the floating flower market, which is ablaze with colour in every season. Amsterdam has many traditional and contemporary art galleries and is a haven for shoppers.

Join our optional excursion today. The picturesque village of Volendam is one of the best-known ports of the old Zuiderzee and is a favourite Dutch resort.

It is also famous for its association with famous artists such as Picasso and Renoir who were attracted to the area. Wander along the narrow alleyways which wind between the pretty gabled houses. Step back in time with a visit to a traditional cheese farm where you can gain an insight into cheese making and enjoy an included tasting.

We then continue to Marken, which was once an island but is now connected to the mainland by a causeway. The town is famed for its traditional wooden buildings, with many folklore stories being based around the town’s history. The traditional fishing town is incredibly quaint and will provide us with opportunities to enjoy the scenery and to buy local souvenirs.
