Fly to Los Angeles where you will be transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay.
Today we travel south through San Jan Capistrano and San Clemente for an included visit to the delightful city of San Diego. San Diego is the second largest city in California and is renowned for its year-round mild weather. Our included city tour will introduce you to the main sights.
After the city tour, enjoy an optional San Diego sightseeing cruise. Relax in comfort on the observation deck during your one-hour trip as our professional crew narrates the rich history, local points of interest and facts about San Diego’s landmarks and military.
We head east to the desert town of Palm Springs, favoured as a winter holiday spot for stars such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra.
In the afternoon, we cross the Colorado River, the region’s main source of irrigation water, and enter the state of Arizona. Soon you will see the Saguaro cacti, well-known icons of the southwest desert.
By late afternoon, we arrive in the metropolitan area of Phoenix and we stay overnight in one of its closest neighbourhoods, such as Scottsdale.
Enjoy one of the highlights of our tour today, as we head to the incredible Grand Canyon.
We travel north leaving the low desert behind and enter the Mexican highlands of central Arizona before reaching the enchanting Red Rock Country.
We pass through Sedona, a town surrounded by striking landscape filled with incredible rock formations, and enter Oak Creek Canyon, where a winding road takes you to the Colorado Plateau. The Plateau extends all the way to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The canyon itself was carved in layer upon layer of sedimentary rock, over thousands of years. During your stay you may wish to join an optional helicopter flight to appreciate the immensity of the Grand Canyon from the air. This evening we stay overnight in the Grand Canyon area.

Our journey today takes us through the Monument Valley Navajo Indian Reservation. Enjoy an optional flight, partly crossing the Grand Canyon, landing near Monument Valley.
After a bus tour with a Navajo guide, you will fly from Monument Valley to Page with views of Lake Powell. Alternatively, join an optional hour-long ground tour with Navajo guides who will introduce you to their rich heritage. Enter the valley for a close look at monumental sandstone formations such as ‘Elephant Butte’ and the ‘Left and Right Mittens’ formations.
Later we arrive in the town of Page, where we stay overnight.

Fabulous views await today as we continue our journey into the Mormon state of Utah, passing through Kanab before entering the awe-inspiring Bryce Canyon and its world of multi-coloured sandstone spires and pinnacles, known as Hoodoos.
You may like to join an optional Antelope Canyon Tour to discover this slot canyon known for beautiful colours on the sandstone. Our Navajo guide will take you on a walk on the canyon bottom before we continue to our overnight hotel in the Bryce Canyon area.

Today we continue to discover the Colorado Plateau as we head south to Zion National Park and take in the views of the massive rock formations. View a chasm up to 3,000ft / 900m in depth, carved by the Virgin River over the last 13 million years. Experience the beauty of the orange, red and white sandstone from the bottom of the chasm. The peace and quiet of this area inspired early pioneers to give it the name it bears today.
After the natural wonders you have seen over the last few days, we travel to the city of Las Vegas for a two-night stay. Originally founded as an agricultural settlement, the town was almost abandoned but began thriving after the state of Nevada adopted liberal gaming laws. Enjoy an optional Las Vegas by Night tour accompanied by your Tour Director, which will introduce you to the highlights of Las Vegas.
Day at leisure to explore the many attractions of Las Vegas. Perhaps take an optional Indian Adventure and Skywalk which begins with an aerial sightseeing tour to Grand Canyon West and the Hualapai Indian Lands. Enjoy a rustic ground excursion of the Hualapai lands, a light meal at the edge of the canyon, the Skywalk, and a return flight. Alternatively, enjoy an optional Grand Voyager Flight starting with an aerial tour (fixed wing charter aircraft) of Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and west rim of the Grand Canyon before landing at Grand Canyon West. Descend to the canyon floor by helicopter. A boat excursion on the Colorado River and then returning to the top of the rim by helicopter. Visit native Hualapai Indians during a short, coach tour. A light meal is also included.
We leave Las Vegas and embark on a sharp contrast to the glitz and glamour of the city with a visit to Death Valley. We ascend the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the alpine resort of Mammoth Lakes for an overnight stay. Please note if Tiago Pass is closed, the overnight in Mammoth Lakes will not be possible and the tour will overnight in Visalia/Fresno instead.
Depart early this morning and head to the amazing city of San Francisco, where we stay for two nights. Perhaps enjoy an optional San Francisco Bay Cruise lasting approximately 1 hour and sailing past the San Francisco skyline, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, and also passing the famous island of Alcatraz. This evening, why not enjoy an optional tour of San Francisco by night, with dinner included. Start with a cable car ride over Nob Hill before taking a stroll through China Town. After dinner continue onto Treasure Island where you can enjoy a captivating panoramic view of the San Francisco skyline.

Enjoy a full day in San Francisco to enjoy the sights at your leisure. Alternatively, why not join one of our optional excursions. Why not bike the Golden Gate Bridge and visit Sausalito on an optional excursion? Or, join an optional tour to Muir Woods, to see the giant redwood Sequioa trees, taking in Sausalito, and driving onto the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Alternatively, you may wish to join a full-day optional tour to Sonoma and Napa Valley wineries, or an optional seaplane flight to experience the local scenery from the air.
We depart San Francisco this morning and continue south through Silicon Valley, an area known for its large concentration of computer companies. It was here in the late 1950’s that the most important developments in computer technology took place. Companies like Hewlett Packard, Apple Computers and Intel greatly contributed to the region’s economy. After passing San Jose, on the southern end of Silicon Valley, we return to the Pacific Coast. We continue to the Monterey Peninsula, one of the most scenic and picturesque parts of California. Later we arrive in the Pismo Beach area for an overnight stay.
Today we head back to Los Angeles and enjoy a beautiful drive into Santa Barbara, where palm-lined walkways border white sandy beaches. We continue to Los Angeles arriving later this afternoon. Enjoy an optional visit to Santa Monica Pier with a casual lunch included at Bubba Gump. We continue to our hotel near the airport for an overnight stay.

Transfer to Los Angeles airport for the overnight return flight to the U.K.

Throughout your holiday, you will stay at the hotels detailed below, or similar.
In Los Angeles, you will stay for two nights at the the Custom Hotel. You will then stay overnight at We-Ko-Pa Resort, Scottsdale; Holiday Inn Express & Suites Grand Canyon; the Quality Inn at Lake Powell, Page and the Best Western Plus Ruby's Inn in the Bryce Canyon area.
You will then stay for two nights in Las Vegas at the Excalibur Hotel, followed by overnight stays in Visalia at the Wyndham Visalia and the Doubletree by Hilton Modesto hotel in Modesto.
In San Francisco you will stay for two nights at the Executive Hotel Vintage Court , then overnight in Pismo Beach at Oxford Suites.
Your final overnight stay will be at the Custom Hotel, Los Angeles.
All hotels are of minimum European 3-star standard and have a restaurant or bar on site or close by.
