Join us today on our superb included excursion to Germany and to the Bavarian town of Füssen. En route, we pause at the village of Hohenschwangau, home to the spectacular Hohenschwangau Castle and the famous Neuschwanstein Castle.

King Maximilian, the father of King Ludwig II, acquired Hohenschwangau castle as a ruin in 1832. He rebuilt it according to the original plans and after completion, the castle was used as the summer and hunting residence of the Bavarian royal family. Neuschwanstein Castle is the famous fairy tale castle built by Mad King Ludwig and is one of Germany’s most popular images. It was the inspiration behind Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and also seen in the film ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’.

There will be time at leisure in Hohenschwangau village where you can photograph Neuschwanstein Castle (weather permitting). You can choose to remain in Hohenschwangau and enjoy a tour of Neuschwanstein Castle (entrance at extra cost), or join our visit to nearby Füssen, a charming town located on the edge of the Alps and also the highest in Bavaria. There will be free time to explore before we collect anyone who stayed to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, then return to our hotel later this afternoon.

Beginning at the lowest point of the route, we will travel through the dramatic landscape of the Rhine gorge, often referred to as the 'Swiss Grand Canyon', from where the Rhine River has carved deep into the white rocks. We will then began to climb upwards to the spectacular Oberalp Pass, reaching a height of 2034 metres before arriving in the charming ski resort of Andermatt.

Disappointing to be honest. a 7 day break but you spend 4 days travelling to get there (2 days there 2 days back). The hotel that we stayed in in Feldkirch Austria for 4 nights was changed a couple of weeks prior to departure. So instead of staying in a lovely Austrian style pension hotel we stayed in what can only be described as a business hotel. Rooms were basic and set up for one night stays. We had breakfast in the Hotel, which was fine but dinner was in a restuarant bar that was not in the hotel but next to the hotel. Dinner was fixed at 7pm, first night straight out the coach and into dinner. You sat with same people on same table for next 3 nights. Menu was given to us for 3 nights to select, having travelled for 10 hours. Expecting Austrian type food but apart from Soup there was nothing that you would associate with Austrian style food. Up every morning early, latest was 8.30am, to get on the coach. Needs to be a 10 day holiday really as we had 3 days sight seeing. sights were lovely although if wanted to go in the castles you needed to sacrifice the afternoon time in the town of Fussen. We got offered a 40 pounds in total refund each for the change of Hotel. The fact that the replacement hotel appeared to be 40 pounds a night less was probably an indication of quality difference. If we had realised that the first 2 days were 14 hours and 10 hours travel respectively i think it was fair to say we would not have done it. Of course the brochure and detailed itinerary do not mention that for obvious reasons.

Excellent hotels. Good service. Fun crew Interesting itinerary but rather boring at St Anton..would have preferred to explore Feldkirch for a couple of hours, with a tour guide, as it seemed an interesting medieval place.

Stunning scenery throughout the tour. 2 fantastic drivers that kept us informed, entertained and hydrated along the way. Swiss glacier railway was the highlight for us. Would have liked just a little more time at the castle, as there was quite a bit to see and do in the area. Apart from that, really enjoyed the trip and met some really nice people. Certainly do another trip with Leger

Very tiring on long coach holiday, hotel was not up to the standard it reminded me of A Travelodge, we had single beds Which were very small, we later found out some single travellers had king size beds. Austria was beautiful our coach drivers were excellent the organisation from start to finish went worry free.
