Join our included excursion to the capital, Andorra la Vella. The name literally means 'Andorra the Old' and the original site of the city has had settlements since the late Neolithic period. Andorra la Vella has been the principal city of Andorra since 1278 and the Old Town (the Barri Antic) includes streets and buildings dating from this time. The most notable building is the Casa de la Vall, which was constructed in the early sixteenth century and has been the state's parliamentary house since 1702. The city is divided into two parts. The newer section is located in the north and is very commercial with lots of shops. The older half is located across the river and to the south and west. Here you will find many shops and places to eat as well as the historic centre. Enjoy time exploring the city at your leisure. Perhaps see the Church of Sant Esteve and the Church of Sant Andreu, both dating from the 12th Century. Spend time in the town square, which is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a panoramic view of the Valley of Andorra.

Today we travel to the fascinating city of Barcelona, Spain’s second largest city and one of the Mediterranean’s busiest ports. The city has a delightfully relaxed atmosphere - particularly along the Ramblas, where you can join the locals casually strolling along the tree-lined walkway, perhaps stopping to enjoy the entertainment offered by the many mime-artists and musicians. Barcelona boasts many amazing buildings designed during the artistic explosion of Modernisme - be sure to see the extraordinary Sagrada Familia, a very unconventional church, whose construction is still being finished today. An optional guided tour will introduce you to the most important sights of the city. Starting by coach, you can admire the unusual scenery of the Eixample district and the huge Olympic stadium, scene of the great athletic achievements in 1992. We finish the tour on foot in the bustling Las Ramblas, the iconic street in the centre, which runs from the Plaza de Catalunya to the Christopher Columbus monument near the harbour at Port Vell. Here you can explore the cafes and market stalls, see the mime artists, and from here you will be ideally situated to explore independently the “Barri Gotic”, or Gothic Quarter in the centre of the Old Town, where some of buildings date back to medieval and Roman times.

Join our optional excursion visiting three countries, France, Spain and Andorra. We begin our day at the French ski resort of Font Romeu, one of the best-equipped ski resorts in Europe with 460 snow cannons on 54 km of ski runs. We then visit the beautiful town of Puigcerda, located in a wide terrace that dominates the Segre River; discover the Gothic church of Santo Domingo, or the artificial lake, surrounded by black poplars, which was built in the second half of the 13th century. Later in the afternoon we visit La Seu d’Urgell, an important city in the northern part of the province of Lleida. Its most interesting historic site is the Cathedral, a beautiful example of the Italian-influenced Romanesque style of Catalonia in the 11th and 12th centuries.
