Flying in to Cape Town, this journey of discovery begins with the chance to visit Table Mountain in Cape Town. As we continue, we see Robben Island, Rorke’s famous battleground, and travel along the world-famous Garden Route. Then…as if this tour couldn’t get any better, we also experience an unforgettable open Safari at Kruger National Park before arriving at Johannesburg.

Upon arrival, you will be met by our local guide and transferred to your hotel. Although rooms may not be available, there will be time to freshen up before our included, guided city tour. First, we make our way to Table Mountain Cable Way for an optional cable car ride to the summit, weather permitting (cable car ticket is at extra cost). After descending, we travel past famous landmarks such as St. George’s Cathedral, the Anglican Diocese of Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu. We return to our hotel for a four-night stay.

Included excursion to Cape Point and some of the most spectacular views in the world. We pass through Sea Point and Camps Bay with its glorious views of the Twelve Apostles, then the fishing village of Hout Bay where you can join an optional boat trip to Duiker Island. We continue to the Cape Point Nature Reserve and see a variety of wildlife, returning to Cape Town via Simon’s Town, where we visit the penguin colony, Fish Hoek fishing village and Muizenberg. We will also stop at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens.

Join our full-day, included Cultural Tour. We sail to Robben Island, the former prison colony where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. You will be guided by a Robben Island Tour Guide, a former political prisoner from the island. The tour will show you the life and stories of the island prison’s history, including viewing the cell where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for years. Back on the mainland we set off on a Township Cultural Tour. We will be welcomed in the traditional African manner in the townships of Langa (the oldest formal township) and Khayelitsha (the largest formal settlement). Visit the Malay Quarter and Gugulethu Township, meaning ‘our pride’, which was established as a result of the migrant labour system. Visit a ‘shebeen’, an informal tavern, where you can meet and interact with the local community.

This morning we leave Cape Town and drive into the winelands. You will experience the ‘City of Oaks’, through a wine tasting and cellar tour. We travel overland along the scenic Route 62 to Oudtshoorn, the ‘Ostrich Capital of the World’. Check-in at the overnight hotel in Oudtshoorn before an ostrich farm tour followed by a barbecue dinner at the ostrich farm.

Join an included informative Cango Caves tour. You will be taken into the bowl of the earth and view the spectacular stalagmite and stalactite formations. Afterwards, we continue over the scenic Outeniqua Mountain Pass to Knysna for a two-night stay.

Depart for Knysna’s waterfront, where we will enjoy a Paddle Cruise excursion on the beautiful Knysna Lagoon. This cruise offers magnificent 360 degree views of the Lagoon and Knysna Heads. We end with a delightful lunch at the Cruise Cafe, then return to the waterfront for an included oyster educational tour on Thesen Island, giving you the chance to learn how to shuck your own oysters with the included half a dozen oysters per person, paired with a delectable white wine.

We continue along the scenic Garden Route and on to Port Elizabeth. En route, we will stop off at Tsitsikamma National Park, Storms River and visit the Big Tree. Almost 800 years old, this majestic yellowwood tree towers over its neighbours at nearly 37 metres tall (with a width of nine metres!) We arrive late afternoon into Port Elizabeth for an overnight stay and include transfers to the Broadwalk Casino Complex.

Early departure, then fly to Durban. Upon arrival, enjoy an included city tour before we continue to Shakaland for an included tour around the homesteads which provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the locals. Tonight, we enjoy an included dinner and Zulu Dancing and Cultural Show. We stay for two nights in Eshowe.

Depart for a tour of the Battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift with a Specialist Battlefield Guide. Our tour includes a light lunch. We make our way back to Shakaland through spectacular scenery in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Enjoy the second part of the Cultural show – stick-making and stick fighting – before departing for the magical kingdom of Swaziland. We will stop off at the famous Swazi Candle Factory and continue through Swaziland’s beautiful hills. After a stop at a Swazi market, we reach our hotel in Swaziland for an overnight stay.

We continue through Swaziland stopping en route at the famous Swazi Glass Factory, Ngwenya Glass. We continue onto Jeppes Reef border post for our re-entry into South Africa and continue to the Kruger Park Region where we stay for three nights. Why not enjoy an optional game drive into the Kruger National Park this afternoon?

You will then stay overnight at The Kelway Hotel, Port Elizabeth; two nights at Shakaland Hotel, Kwazulu Natal; overnight in the Happy Valley Hotel, Mbabane, Swaziland; three nights at Nkambeni Tented Lodge, Kruger National Park and overnight at the Kopanong Hotel in Johannesburg.
