Join us on this exciting holiday as we explore the spectacular Sicilian treasures. We begin in stunning Syracuse, where ancient Greek and Roman architecture stand side by side. We then see the amazing Agrigento and enjoy a guided tour of the Valley of Temples. As we journey to Palermo, we pass many beautiful sights, from Marsala to Segesta. In Palermo we enjoy time taking in the famous sights, such as the Palatine Chapel and the cathedral Monreale. We then head to the Acireale area, where we take a tour to the mighty Mount Etna and the charming town of Taormina. As the holiday comes to an end, we give guests the opportunity to join us on a spectacular excursion, which takes you to the real life movie sets of the Al Pacino classic, The Godfather. Fly to Catania, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the Syracuse area. After dinner, we suggest a walk through Ortigia, the historical heart of Syracuse. Stroll through Greek temples, Baroque churches, hidden gardens and courtyards, ending at the most beautiful square of Sicily. Please note: this walk is around 5km in length, however, taxis are available (at own cost).

We start the day with an included guided walking tour of Syracuse’s most important archaeological area. Lasting for approximately 2hrs the sightseeing tour will introduce you to the most important sights, including the Greek theatre, the Roman amphitheatre and the famous Dionysus Ear. We then continue to the Villa del Tellaro, a rich country residence of the late Roman Empire where you can admire the decorations made entirely of mosaic. After free time for lunch we continue to Agrigento, where we enjoy a guided visit to the imposing Valley of the Temples. Afterwards, we make our way to our overnight hotel in Agrigento.

After breakfast we depart the hotel and head to Marsala, built on the ancient site of the Punic city Lilibeo and well known today for the production of Marsala wines. After lunch we make our way along the Salt Route, with its picturesque windmills in the Trapani area, where we will make a photo stop. We then continue to Segesta, with a visit to the Doric Temple from the 5th century BC, built by the famous architect of his time, Elimi. We continue to our hotel in Palermo where we stay for the next two nights.

Today, our included tour takes us to nearby Monreale, with its cathedral and prestigious mosaics, the most impressive and extensive area of Christian medieval mosaics in the world. We return to Palermo, the island’s splendid capital. Our local guide will introduce you to the most famous sights, including the cathedral and the Palatine Chapel.

We leave our hotel this morning and head to Cefalù, to visit the traditional fishing village whose Norman cathedral dominates the skyline. After time to explore we continue to Castelbuono, a medieval town with a 14th Century church. There will be time at leisure for you to obtain lunch and explore before we head to the Acireale area for a three-night stay.

A day of wonders on our included excursion as we head to Mount Etna, one of the world‘s largest and most active volcanoes. Its lava-walled crater and smouldering potholes are a breath-taking reminder of the power of nature. Afterwards, we visit Taormina, a picturesque town overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy free time in this charming town with its winding streets, fashionable shops, cosy cafés and tempting restaurants.

Join our fascinating optional excursion built around the classic Godfather film. We head first to a small town set on the hillside of the foothills of the Peloritani mountains . This is where Al Pacino and the cast shot some of the scenes from the film. A ‘must’ is a stop at the famous bar ‘Vitelli’ on the corner of the town, one of Coppola‘s favourite spots, and seen many times throughout the film. From Savoca you will visit Forza d’Agrò which is one of the best examples of a typical village of the Province of Messina and still conserves its medieval street layout. On all sides of the town you have the most incredible views.

You will stay for one night in Syracuse at the 4-star Hotel Panorama, or similar, followed by one night at the 4-star Hotel La Scala dei Turchi, or similar in Agrigento. You will then stay for two nights at the 4-star Hotel San Paolo Palace, or similar, in Palermo and then three nights at the 4-star President Park Hotel in Aci Castello, or similar, near Acireale.
