We travel north to the Montecatini Terme area in Tuscany for an overnight stay. En route we visit Florence, steeped in the culture of the Renaissance. Florence's famous Cathedral, known as the 'Duomo' dominates the local skyline. The Cathedral construction was started in the 13th century, and the 'cupola' or dome, was a 15th century addition by Renaissance designer, Filippo Brunelleschi. The 'Ponte Vecchio' or Old Bridge, with its many shops is another famous symbol of the town, and in 2016 it miraculously survived the collapse of part of the River Arno riverbank.
