Itinerary

Local departure by coach, then to Bouillon in Belgium for a four-night stay.

Join our included excursion to the beautiful town of Dinant with its picturesque setting on the River Meuse. Dinant is dominated by the citadel that sits high above the town, but its main focal point is the stunning onion-shaped dome of the cathedral. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore Dinant or why not join our optional excursion through the lovely Ardennes countryside to the Castle of Celles-Veves.

A full-day, optional excursion which takes us firstly to historic Bastogne, forever associated with the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Visit the new Bastogne War Museum, (admission is extra) the Mardasson Memorial and see the Commonwealth Cemetery in Hotton. This afternoon, we head to a brewery where we have a guided tour and sample the local beer.

Today, we include a visit to Annevoie Gardens which date from the 17th century. The gardens combine the splendour and majesty of the French style with English romanticism and Italian refinement and contain many water features such as ‘The Big Bouillon’ with its fan-like shape, and the ‘French Cascade’, in the oldest part of the gardens.

Accommodation

You will stay for four nights at the 3-star Hotel de la Poste, situated in the centre of Bouillon, close to the banks of the River Semois and only a short walk from the 12th century castle. Originally founded in the 18th century, it retains many of its original features, but combines them with modern facilities and comfort. The hotel has a restaurant, lounge, lift and bar, the ideal place to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
