The city contains marvellous architecture, with Lucca’s defensive walls having been designed by Leonardo Da Vinci. The area of most interest to visitors is still enclosed within these walls, which have never been breached. In Lucca, we will find lovely churches with old architecture, such as St Martin's Cathedral and the Basilica di San Frediano, as well as an ancient Roman amphitheatre and the National Museum of Villa Guinigi.
