Explore the pretty medieval towns of the Alsace region of France, as we take you on a tour of rolling countryside, quaint buildings and fine wines. We begin with a visit to Metz, before we arrive at our base in Klingenthal, where we will remain for four nights. From our base, we partake in many memorable excursions, experience a full day in Strasbourg, with its half-timbered buildings, visit the regional capital of Colmar, lined with canals and charming squares, and enjoy wine tasting in a nearby wine cellar. As the holiday comes to an end, we head to the delightful town of Obernai, set amongst the vineyards of the sloped Vosges Mountains.

Excellent food at the Hotel des Vosges. Excursions very good and attentive friendly drivers. Highly recommend this holiday. A good amount of time was given at each town with the exception of Metz where we definitely didn't have long enough (perhaps we could have left the overnight hotel before 10am?). If Leger want some more specific feedback, then I would say there's no need to get back to the hotel 2 hours or more before dinner as it's in a quiet village so once you've been to the museum there's little else to do. It may also have been nice to visit Haut Koenigsbourg instead of going to Ribeauville.

The holiday was really good, but we thought the drivers, although excellent, were lacking in knowledge of the destinations,a guide would have been beneficial. First nights hotel in Reimes had no restaurant or anywherevto get food anywhere in the area. Leger should have advised of this. I am diabetic type 1,and so this could have been a major problem,we had to eat snacks bought earlier.

Dinner time was 7pm. First course arrived 7,20. Dinner about 8pm and 3rd course 9pm. you are of course aware you have a majority of elderly people on these trips and late eating is not advisable for digestion or sleep. We were seated 10 or 12 people around round tables and the longer people wait the higher the decibal rating goes up and this is disconcerting for people with even early diminished hearing. We are going on a Shearings holiday in July and dinner is usually served early evening so people can enjoy an evening's entertainment. This should explain my lower rating for the holiday. P.S. Homeward bound our coach from Victoria dumped us off at Dartford petrol Station where we had over an hour's wait for the mini-bus to Victoria.
